Dear valued supporters
We are living in a period of uncertainty where we must all come together to support each other through the ongoing impacts of the Coronavirus.
The Les Twentyman Foundation is committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our employees, volunteers, young people and the communities in which we operate during this crisis.
Our purpose at the Les Twentyman Foundation is to provide positive intervention and unconditional support for at-risk youth enabling them to reach their full potential. We remain committed and focused on our purpose through these challenging times.
The reality is that our clients who are between the age of five and 24 years are some of the most disadvantaged people in our community. When panic buying hit our supermarkets, the youth we work with and their families suffered most because people living on low incomes simply cannot afford to bulk buy.
Our aim is to continue to provide high quality services for our clients whenever possible. Obviously this is a rapidly changing environment and we will operate within the advice of federal and state governments. We have also enacted our ‘Epidemic-Pandemic Policy’ to ensure we can minimise exposure to the virus for our employees, clients, volunteers and others.
In light of the social distancing measures that have been put into place by the state and federal governments, we have made the decisions to temporarily postpone a number of programs and activities until further notice. These include:
- Annual Charity Golf Day
- Annual Charity Gala Ball
- Redskins basketball program
- Upgrade Homework Club
- No client drops in to the office or HOPE pantry without calling beforehand
Our youth workers continue to support at-risk young people in the community and schools through our Youth Support Service and Positive Futures programs. We are also using technology to continue providing services to our clients and to communicate with our team.
There’s never been a more important time to support charities like the Les Twentyman Foundation. We are expecting to see a downturn in donations and fundraising as the economic impacts hit Australia. Right now, we need your support to continue providing services in the community. You can make a donation here: https://www.ltfoundation.com.au/donate
Thank you for being an important part of our community. Let’s all support each other through these most extraordinary of times and pay special attention to our kids to help ease their confusion and anxiety in the weeks and months ahead.
