Dear valued supporters
Now more than ever, young people need our support. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, the Les Twentyman Foundation has continued to provide services to at-risk youth and their families.
We’ve changed the way we deliver our services to protect the health and wellbeing of the young people we work with, their families and our employees. We continue to monitor and respond to the guidance provided by federal and state governments.
During these challenging times, I have felt energised to see the passion and commitment of our team who always ensure that the needs of young people are at the heart of everything we do.
When social distancing meant that we couldn’t meet clients face-to-face, our team introduced digital youth work which included a range of school holiday activities.
When we weren’t able to go into young people’s homes, youth workers sent their clients handwritten postcards in the mail to remind them that we care.
When we couldn’t play community sport anymore, we encouraged kids to practice at home and share their skills in our Instagram competition.
When families told us that they couldn’t afford groceries, we asked donors to help pay for fresh meat and produce hampers.
When we couldn’t go in to schools, our team stayed connected with their clients by phone and video.
And when a young person experienced a crisis … we were always there, at the hospital, at the police station, at the family home and on the streets.
As one mother says: “The work and support of the Les Twentyman Foundation to our family is amazing and I am so very grateful for the moment our Youth Worker came into our lives.”
There’s no doubt, that our team of talented youth workers have gone to extreme lengths to ensure that kids don’t fall through the cracks of this pandemic. For this, I say thank you to every one of our employees.
We know that when young people start to disengage from their education, their families and communities – it leads to a downwards spiral. But we also know how to stop this spiral in its tracks.
The support of our donors and funders remains critical during this time. With our fundraising events significantly impacted by the pandemic, we still need people to donate to ensure we can continue providing critical services to young people who need it more than ever.
Please donate to our end of financial year campaign. Every dollar counts towards embracing the future of our next generation.
